New Businesses Opening in Medicine Park

post and photos Muriel Fahrion

Some think of it as progress I think of it as returning to what Medicine Park was meant to be, a small but unique Oklahoma Tourist Town destination. Continuing the revitalization of the little shops are two new editions. Situated right next to Town Hall, Medicine Park Grease Monkeys (opened this Spring) is fun little shop with array of classic car and old timey OK gift memorabilia. And directly across from Bath Lake in a building that was originally the Lawton Railway station/ Medicine Park Post Office is the Bait Shop, opened just a week ago. A perfect located business for the fisherman, men, woman and kids. They carry bait, rent and sell fishing poles ($3 can buy a kid a bamboo pole) and will carry Medicine Park souvenirs. The owners are very friendly and offer excellent prices.
Stop by and say hi and enjoy browsing and chatting. Tell them the Medicine Park Post sent you!

  1. I was just a visitor passing through the quiet little town of medicine park, 90 miles from home when my motorcycle broke down. Trying to find a place that was open with any mechanics around to give me a hand. i was outta luck till I seen two gentlemen sitting on the steps at what I had found out was the bait shop. Told them what the problem was, and they looked at one another and said i think we can help, the one stated that he had just opened the bait shop and was looking forward to this year and all the ppl expected to come. The other returned and said come down to the fire house... to my surprise it was the MAYOR of all people, Mr. Dwight Cope , opened up the fire house and welded the part on my motor cycle so i could get back on the road and home safe... Id like to thank him once again for all the help and say THANK YOU once more and you all are lucky to have a man that is willing to help out and show great hospitality not just himself but for your town...
